Collections Manhole Rehabilitation

What's New

Updated April 10, 2017 – Crews from Realm Inc. began mobilization and will begin the manhole rehabilitation process at manhole 05247.

About the Project

This is a preservation project to rehabilitate six existing sewer manholes located throughout the county’s sanitary service area. All six of the manholes are located in the City of Lakewood.

The contractor is responsible for temporarily bypassing wastewater flows and providing traffic control to access the manholes. All work will be done from inside the manholes. Construction digging is not anticipated.

Work is expected to take place between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays through the completion of the project. Residents may be asked to reduce their wastewater discharge while construction is taking place.

The work is not expected to cause traffic delays, however motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians should exercise caution in areas where crews are operating.

Work includes:
  • Asbestos abatement at pipe penetrations into manhole
  • Manhole wall, shelf and channel rehabilitation
  • Installation of new steps
  • Replacement of corroded ductile iron inside drop structures with new plastic GU drop structures
  • Clean and remove damaged material from manholes.
